Spiti is a cold desert at 4,000 metres, and the drive in is half the trip. We run this as a slow loop so nobody spends the first two days with a headache — altitude is gained in stages, with a full rest day at Kaza.
You travel in a 4×4 with a driver who has run this road for a decade, sleep in family-run homestays, and eat what the house is cooking. Two nights are in a fixed camp near Chandratal, weather permitting.
